HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a few early clouds, skies will end up generally sunny for much of our Sunday. That will help it warm up a little more than what we saw Saturday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s. The chilliest temperatures will be over areas with snow pack. I wouldn’t be surprised if some only warm to the lower 30s. Skies will remain mostly clear Sunday night, leading to a cold night as lows drop into the upper 0s and low to mid 10s. A cold front will move in from the north. That front will become stationary and remain draped across Southern and Western Nebraska during the day Monday. That along with thickening clouds will keep it a little cooler on Monday. We’ll see temperatures from the upper 20s to the upper 30s. The warmest temperatures will be in the south and southwest. Winds will also be breezy out of the southeast at 15 to 20 mph.

Our next chance of snow will move in from the west Monday night. Initially, snow will develop during the evening, mainly west of Highway 183. It’ll spread farther east later in the night and into Tuesday morning. The chances will be lower in Eastern Nebraska as it may not push that far east. As we move into Tuesday afternoon, snow will lighten up and shift to the south of our area. It should be out of the area by Tuesday evening. Early forecasts call for 1 to 3 inches of snow with isolated higher amounts favoring Central to Southwest Nebraska, especially west of Highway 281. This forecast may need to be tweaked as the time gets closer. Temperatures will be held down on Tuesday with the clouds and snow with highs in the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s.

Dry weather is expected for the rest of the forecast period from Wednesday to Saturday. There may be a few more clouds on Friday compared to the other days with mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will get slightly warmer as the end of the week goes on, but only warming to the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s by the end of the week. Those with snow cover will continue to struggle more than those without snow on the ground.
