HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today will be another gorgeous day, but with less wind than yesterday. It will be sunny again. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 60s. It may get to 70° for southern parts of the Local4 viewing area. Skies will remain mostly clear tonight until a few clouds move into the southwest well after midnight. Low temperatures will dip back into the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s.

Thursday, temperatures will still be fairly mild, reaching the upper 50s and low to mid 60s. There will be an increase in clouds, especially in the afternoon. Some light rain showers will start to move into Southwest Nebraska in the afternoon. This chances of rain will then start to move eastward, then southward Thursday night. So the main areas that will have a chance for some light rain will be Southwest Nebraska and North Central Kansas. The rest of the area will just see more clouds around for much of Thursday night. Rain will move on by daybreak Friday and skies will begin to clear up. Low temperatures Friday morning will drop into the low to mid 30s.

Sunshine returns on Friday as clouds depart to the south. One area that may get some increase in clouds is Northeast Nebraska as some cooler air comes in from the northeast. This will give us one of the coolest days in the week ahead, even if will still be above average. The big question right now is how much cooler air will move in. My current forecast has high temperatures on Friday ranging from the lower 50s northeast to the lower 60s west. There’s a decent chance that these high temperatures may need to be brought down a bit.

The weekend will be very mild, but with a little more wind. Highs on Saturday will soar into the mid to upper 60s. It will be mostly sunny and breezy. Similar temperatures are expected on Sunday. Saturday night into Sunday morning looks to be a windier day where gusts could approach 30 to 35 mph. There may be a few more clouds on Sunday. The mild weather should stick around a few more days Monday and Tuesday where temperatures will warm well into the 60s, if not even into the lower 70s. Each of those days may be breezy. Around the middle of next week, our weather pattern may start to change to a cooler and more active weather as a series of storm systems may target our region during the middle of the month.
