HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A cold front is passing through Central into Eastern Nebraska this morning. Behind the front, winds are increasing out of the northwest at 15 to 30 mph. An upper level low pressure system will move across the area today, bringing an increase in clouds and chances of rain, first out west this morning, then spreading eastward this afternoon. Actual highs today will range from the mid 40s northwest to the mid 60s southeast, but many of the warmer areas will see highs a little earlier than normal as temperatures will then drop for those areas as rain moves in.

Showers will continue for Central and Eastern Nebraska (and North Central Kansas) this evening while skies begin to clear out west. It will remain breezy with winds dying down from west to east overnight. By tomorrow morning, the last of the rain will be in far southeast Nebraska. Low temperatures tonight will range from the low/mid 20s out west to the low/mid 40s in the east where clouds and some wind will keep things a little warmer.

Saturday will features a lot of sunshine and lighter northwest winds of 5 to 15 mph, making it the most pleasant day of our forecast. There may be some lingering morning clouds in Eastern Nebraska and winds may be a bit breezier there at 10 to 20 mph. Saturday will mostly feature highs from the lower 60s in the east to the upper 60s in the west. With lighter winds and clear skies Saturday night, lows will drop into the 30s.

Sunday will start off pleasant enough with sunshine and lighter winds, but a cold front will push through during the day from the northwest. Behind that, winds will become strong out of the northwest at 15 to 25 mph and cooler air will move in from the northwest. Any chance for rain right now looks to be confined to our far northern counties. Highs on Sunday will range from the mid 50s northwest to the lower 70s southeast.

Cooler and breezy/windy weather will return for early next week behind this front. Highs on Monday will mostly be in the 50s, but there may be a few upper 40s in the northwest. It will be another fairly sunny day. Tuesday may feature a few more clouds, but a little less wind. Temperatures will mostly top out in the upper 40s and low to mid 50s.

A slight chance of rain will come later Tuesday night into Wednesday with the better chance being in our western counties. Temperatures come down a little more on Wednesday with highs in the 40s and lower 50s. Thursday’s temperatures will be similar to, it not slightly cooler than Wednesday. The chance for showers will be a bit better Thursday and into Thursday night.
