HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today will be another fairly warm day with mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will rise into the upper 80s and lower 90s. There may be a few mid 90s in Northern Nebraska. Winds will be a touch breezy out of the south southeast around 7 to 17 mph. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop in the Panhandle later this afternoon and this evening. While they try to push eastward tonight, they will likely diminish before affecting much of the Local4 viewing area. the far west and northwest would have the only chance and it would be a small chance. Lows tonight will mostly drop into the mid to upper 60s.

Tomorrow will be a similar day to today with highs back into the upper 80s and lower 90s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Winds will be just a bit breezy out of the southeast at 5 to 15 mph. Once again, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in Western Nebraska late in the day. They will again try to push eastward later Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. These may hold together long enough to bring a slight chance to the Tri-CIties. Chances will be better in Western and northern portions of the Local4 viewing area. Low temperatures Tuesday night will again fall into the mid to upper 60s.

The Wednesday through Thursday time frame will likely be dry with mostly sunny skies. Warmer temperatures will be moving in for a couple of days. Highs on Wednesday will be back to the upper 80s and low to mid 90s with the warmest temperatures in the east. Thursday will be on the hot side across the area, reaching the mid to upper 90s. Winds will again be a bit breezy out of the south both days.

Thursday night, thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front in Western Nebraska. They will push eastward across the area Thursday night into Friday morning. This will be the best chance of showers and thunderstorms this week, but is not a guarantee of rain. The Storm Prediction Center is watching the extreme northwestern corner of the Local4 viewing area for a chance for severe weather. Some of the showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday morning. By Friday afternoon, the chances will likely only remain in far eastern areas. It will be a cooler day on Friday behind the cold front. Breezy north winds will keep highs mostly in the low to mid 80s. It may be a little warmer in Eastern Nebraska, but that will be determined by timing of the thunderstorms. Expect more sunshine and warmer temperatures this weekend. Highs on Saturday will be back to the upper 80s and lower 90s. Low and mid 90s will be more common on Sunday.
