More heat building in for the Independence Day holiday weekend
July 2, 2021 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Mainly dry weather is expected with quite a bit of sunshine Friday and Saturday. Highs on Friday will top out in the mid to upper 80s with a few near 90° in far Northern and Eastern Nebraska. It’ll be a bit warmer yet on Saturday in the upper 80s and lower 90s. There may be some mid 90s near the South Dakota border. Saturday night, a few thunderstorms will be possible in western and northern parts of the Local4 viewing area. By the time they make their way into the Tri-Cities area early Sunday morning, there’s only a small chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Low temperatures tonight will drop into the low to mid 60s. Saturday night, lows will be warmer in the mid to upper 60s.
Independence Day Sunday looks to be a bit warmer yet in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. There may be some upper 90s up north. Much of the day should be quiet. There’s a small chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the morning. In the afternoon and evening, a few isolated thunderstorms will be possible. While a large majority of the area will likely remain dry, there are a few that may have their plans changed a bit for the holiday and fireworks. I don’t expect thunderstorms to last over any one area for too long.
High temperatures on Monday will be in the low to mid 90s. There is again a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday night. The best chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms will come Tuesday into Tuesday night. A slight chance will continue on Wednesday. It’ll be just a bit cooler on Tuesday with highs from the lower 80s to the lower 90s around the area. High temperatures will mostly be in the 80s around the area on Wednesday. More heat returns by Thursday with highs in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. It’ll be mostly sunny with breezy south winds.
