Temperatures getting hotter to wrap up the work week

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Smoky and hazy conditions will persist this afternoon. Meanwhile, temperatures will heat up into the upper 80s and low to mid 90s later this afternoon with the hottest temperatures out to the west. Outside of the very small chance of an isolated thunderstorm this evening, much of the night will remain mostly clear. We’ll see lows mainly in the 60s across the region.
Friday gets hotter as temperatures rise to the 90s, nearing 100° out west. It’ll be a mostly sunny and breezy day with southerly winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms will move across the area Friday night through early Saturday morning. Friday night will be a mild night with low temperatures from the lower 60s west to the mid 70s east.
It does look a bit cooler on Saturday with a few more clouds around. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms very early in the day. The chance may get a bit better in the afternoon and evening. Right now, the best chance for rain will be for areas east of Highway 281. Some severe thunderstorms will be possible with the greatest chance in Northeast Nebraska. Highs will mostly top out in the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s.
More heat comes in for early next week along with quite a bit of sunshine. Highs on Sunday will push into the low to mid 90s with a few upper 90s out west. Monday now looks like it may be the hottest day of the forecast with high temperatures into the mid to upper 90s and a few getting to around 100° or higher in the southwest. A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms returns Monday night. Tuesday will be a little cooler in the upper 80s and lower to mid 90s. Another chance for showers and thunderstorms comes Tuesday night. It’ll be a little cooler yet on Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s. Another slight chance for showers and thunderstorms comes Wednesday night.
