HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Low clouds have invaded South Central Nebraska and North Central Kansas this morning. They will eventually burn off by the end of the morning making way for sunny skies. Much of the rest of the area will enjoy all day sunshine other than some smoky haze. Winds will be rather breezy out of the south southeast at 10 to 20 mph. Gusts could get up to around 25 to 30 mph. Meanwhile, high temperatures will range from the mid 80s to the mid 90s with the warmest temperatures expected to be out west. Heading into tonight, skies will start off clear. I anticipate more developing low clouds as Thursday’s sunrise approaches. Meanwhile, low temperatures will mostly be in the mid to upper 60s.

Like today, it may take a good chunk of the morning to burn off the clouds, but it will become mostly sunny for the afternoon. High temperatures will be back to the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s. Later in the afternoon, very isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop over Southeast Nebraska. The better chance for showers and thunderstorms will be in Western Nebraska as a cold front begins moving into the state. Some severe storms will large hail and damaging wind gusts will be possible. As these move out of Western and into Central Nebraska overnight, they will eventually weaken. But ongoing rain and isolated thunderstorms will still be possible into Friday morning.

The cold front will be making it’s way through Central and Eastern Nebraska Friday into Friday evening. As it does, more showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop. Severe weather will once again be possible, this time for the eastern half of the area. They should be clear of the area by midnight Friday night. Meanwhile, high temperatures out ahead of the front will still make it to the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s. In our northwestern communities, highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Saturday will be a very nice day with quite a bit of sunshine. high temperatures will range from the mid 70s to the mid 80s from north to south. It will warm right back up on a breezy Sunday as temperatures reach the mid 80s to mid 90s with the warmest temperatures in the southwest. There will be a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. There will be another slight chance Monday afternoon and evening. As for Monday, temperatures will be quite warm in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. Similar temperatures are expected on Tuesday ahead of the next cold front that will cool things back for the middle and end of next week.
