Plenty of wind the next couple of days, but today will be much different than tomorrow
October 19, 2021 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Similar to yesterday, we’ll see another day of warm temperatures and strong winds out of the south southeast. Those winds could get up to around 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the 70s this afternoon, even approaching 80° in southern and eastern portions of the Local4 viewing area. Skies will be mostly sunny with just a few passing clouds, mainly this morning. Meanwhile, it’ll be a raw and chilly day in the Nebraska Panhandle with rain, wind, and highs only in the 40s and 50s. By late in the afternoon, surface low pressure system will be close to North Platte with a cold front attached and going south of the low. As that low pushes into Central Nebraska this evening, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible. Once the front passes through, winds will go from southerly to northwesterly and will be strong on the back side of the low. As showers and thunderstorms lift toward Northeast Nebraska through the evening, they may strengthen. There’s a small chance of some severe weather in far Northeast Nebraska with the threat of some large hail. As the front pushes east through the area, winds will turn northwesterly and will also be strong at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Rain chances will continue up north after midnight with some snow mixing in to the west of that area. By sunrise tomorrow morning. temperatures will drop back to between the mid 30s west and the lower 50s east.
Looking ahead to our Wednesday, it’ll be a chilly and raw day with strong northwest winds. Winds could be as high as 15 to 25 mph with some gusts to 35 mph. Showers will lift north out of Northern Nebraska in the morning, but clouds may hold tough through a good part of the day...especially if you live in Northern and Eastern Nebraska. Meanwhile, there will be sunshine farther south and west. High temperatures tomorrow will range from the low/mid 40s in North Central Nebraska to the lower 60s in Southeast Nebraska and North Central Kansas. As skies clear up and winds die down Wednesday night, we’ll see some chilly temperatures for Thursday morning. Look for lows from the mid/upper 20s northwest to around 40° in the east.
Beyond Thursday morning, we start to see some pretty decent late October weather for the rest of your forecast. Thursday and Friday will feature a decent amount of sunshine with temperatures beginning to warm up. Highs on Thursday will range from the mid 50s northeast to the upper 60s southwest. High temperatures on Friday will be quite alright as they reach the mid 60s northeast to the lower 70s southwest.
The weekend looks quite nice as well. With partly cloudy skies and some stronger wind on Saturday, highs will again be in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s. Sunday does feature a few more clouds and a slight chance of rain, but similar temperatures are expected. Monday will feature partly cloudy skies with highs back in the mid 60s to mid 70s.
