HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today and tomorrow will be the pick of the week ahead with temperatures soaring to well above average and not too far from record high territory. Skies will be mostly sunny as we see some upper level cirrus clouds pass through. Temperatures will top out in the upper 60s and low to mid 70s. Winds will be out of a westerly direction at around 5 to 15 mph. We’ll see mostly clear skies tonight as temperatures drop back into the upper 30s and 40s. Winds will take a southwesterly turn and remain around 5 to 10 mph. We get one more warm day tomorrow as temperatures rise back into the low to mid 70s. There will be some more clouds around with partly sunny skies. Later in the afternoon, a cold front will push southward into Northern Nebraska. Behind that front, winds will take a northerly turn and become quite breezy. Tuesday evening, that cold front will pass south through the rest of the area. The winds will take a northern turn and will be up around 10 to 20 mph. Skies will become mostly cloudy. There may be some extremely light precipitation, but measurable precipitation is unlikely. Low temperatures by Wednesday morning will range from around 30° northwest to the lower 40s southeast.

Wednesday will be a much chillier day with high temperatures only in the 40s. Winds will be out of the northwest at 15 to 25 mph with some occasional gusts over 30 mph. There will be more clouds in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. With lighter winds and clear skies Wednesday night, it’s going to be much colder. Low temperatures will range from the upper 10s west to the upper 20s east. Thursday will be a mostly sunny day and it won’t be so breezy. But it will remain a bit chilly with highs from the lower 40s northeast to the lower 50s southwest.

Temperatures will warm back up to a little above average for the end of the week and the upcoming weekend. Highs on Friday will be up to between the lower 50s northeast and the lower 60s southwest. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and winds will be breezy out of the south. Similar highs are expected on Saturday with partly to mostly sunny skies. Winds will take a northwesterly turn as a weak cold front passes through. Behind that front, look for mostly sunny skies and some breezy winds. Highs on Sunday will be in the upper 40s and low to mid 50s.
