Grand Island Salvation Army serving food and hope on Thanksgiving
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island chapter of the Salvation Army held a dinner pick up event for the local community on Thursday morning.
People lined up up for a traditional thanksgiving dinner, and were able to pick up their food in a to-go container and take it home.
The Grand Island Salvation Army made the dinner pick up only to keep everyone safe, with COVID cases on the rise again. But, they believed the event still needed to take place.
“The Salvation Army the mission has always been to serve and you know when someone is hungry or cold they really don’t want to here about hope this time of year, but once they’ve been fed and their stomachs are satisfied it just changes their whole outlook on life,” Lieutenant Liza Ayala said.
The event was staffed fully by several volunteers.
