Hastings animal hospital utilizes features of new and larger facility
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Companion’s Choice has been in the Hastings community for more than a decade.
Recently, the pet hospital relocated to a brand new facility. The new place offers more than three times the space of their previous location.
Companion’s Choice was founded in 2009, starting up their business in a 3,000 square foot building at West 2nd Street and North Laird Avenue. In October 2021, Companion’s Choice moved into their new location near Lake Hastings. The state of the art facility is complete with six exam rooms, space for imaging practices, surgeries and dental work. There is also a separate building for cat and dog boarding, as well as a large turf area for pets to get exercise during their stay.
With more room for both patients, clients and staff Companion’s Choice Veterinarian Audrey Christensen said she was enjoying the upgrade.
“We have dedicated areas for dental work and for surgical work and treatment areas that allow us to be more efficient because we have more room and we’re not bumping into each other all the time,” Christensen noted. “So, it allows me to practice in an environment that’s fun to be in and also does a good job with our patient care.”
Christensen also said, after opening the doors of their upgraded facility, they saw a higher-than-usual amount of patients come through their doors.
Practice Manager Alyssa Binderup said, overall, the new location is superior to the last.
“The Second Street location was extremely busy, it was not uncommon to find or have an accident on that corner at least once a month... and it’s just really hard if a pet were to get loose when the owner is trying to transport it inside. That just was not a good place to be at,” Binderup told Local4 News. “This new area, yeah, we have 281 and Burlington right there, but at the same time, there’s plenty of space, it’s not as busy, we’re back in our own little corner.”
The new Companion’s Choice is located at 820 W. 21st St. in Hastings.
Companion’s Choice staff are welcoming the public to check out the place for themselves. They’re holding an open house event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday July 9 at the animal hospital. There are planned to be bouncy houses, food, demonstrations, tours and more at the event.
