HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The ‘Sky Lofts’ are moving in to downtown Hastings, bringing an interesting concept along with it. The Sky Lofts will feature a rooftop bar with rooms available for rent.

Guests are allowed to stay for one night, a month or however long they’d like to stay.

Sky Lofts Owner Jamison Murphy is also the owner of Murphy’s Wagon Wheel. The new business is going in directly above his family’s longtime establishment.

“It’s just growing on my family’s legacy and seeing what they’ve wanted to do,” Jamison Murphy said. “We’ve been first in concept in a lot of different areas, my dad was the first to have a downtown apartment in the 90s.”

Sky Lofts will have a mix of both rustic and modern-style designs, with the overall theme set as ‘World World II bomber plane.’ Jamison Murphy told Local4 News he chose this look because of the idea that Sky Lofts is literally up in the sky, overlooking the downtown.

Bob Murphy, who is Jamison’s father and the original owner of the Wagon Wheel told Local4 News he shut off access to the upper floor in 1976 and the space had been sitting empty ever since.

“This is just a good renovation of the whole building because now it’s going to be back to new status and it’s just going to be cool,” Bob Murphy said.

Both Bob and Jamison Murphy look forward to seeing business booming at the Sky Lofts, but also hope to see the new place help out other downtown businesses as well.

Right now, the framing is up for the walls and construction for the outdoor deck is expected to begin next week.

Jamison Murphy said his goal is to have Sky Lofts ready and open for business by September.
