Highland Park Farmers’ Market enters final month of sales for the season
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Harvest season usually means a trip to the Farmers’ Market and those days are numbered. The Farmers’ Market has entered its final weeks of sales. Local vendors have been setting up camp in Highland Park every Saturday morning since June and will close up shop by the end of the month.
It’s also prime growing season for farmers and many who come to the market share a bit of what they worked so hard for.
“I think because the farmers, they raise all this, they work really hard and it’s just a good place that we can have to sell to the customers to bring back the life of a farmer,” said Tammy Hellgoth, Farmers’ Market participant.
Hellgoth feels it is important to continue the Farmers’ Market tradition because of how much agriculture means to Nebraskans. She has also been taking part in the Farmers’ Market for over 20 years and has seen it evolve to more than just fruits and vegetables.
“There’s more people, vendors that are coming out and selling a lot of things that’s not just produce,” Hellgoth said. “But we have a lot of baked goods, regular vegetables that we sell. Just a lot of different vendors are coming which makes it really nice.”
Hellgoth said that the evolution of the Farmers’ Market has gave people a variety of options that they can purchase.
